Canada – The Fight for Survival is Real

I never thought I would see the day that Canada would be in the situation it is in. Our closest ally, the United States of America, a country of the brave and free, is treating us worse than dirt, or like the current administration would put it, like shit. The US might find it amusing to treat our Prime Minister like the Governor of their future 51st State, but us Canadian citizens find it quite offensive and repulsive. Not only does the President say it at every opportunity he can, but members of his administration as well. When you add the threat of tariffs of 25% or more, well let’s just say Americans are not making any friends North of the border.
The new American attitude, spearheaded by President Trump and his minions, and the true current president Elon Musk, has rattled not only Canada, but the rest of the world. It might all be a negotiation tactic, but honestly, when the actions start affecting the average joe, middle class workers and the under privileged of our society, something does not feel right at all. The very people who are claiming to want to fight corruption are the worst ones. The entire first month the presidency has felt like one major con. That is on the American citizens who decided to go vote that way and is a subject for another day.
The US is using Canada as a punching bag, but underestimate their northern neighbors, if you want to call us that. We feel like we have been double crossed, stabbed in the back, pissed on by our best friend for no apparent reason. There is not one argument that Trump publicly said that justifies the treatment we have had for the past month. The arrogance and ignorance that the new US administration has demonstrated, I have to say again, is mind blowing. The Americans, especially in business, have always had this attitude towards Canadians. They always talk down to us as if we do not know anything. We might be polite and welcoming, but we are not idiots. If American companies like Target would of listen to their Canadian management, they might still be operating in Canada. That is an example among many.
It’s quite amazing that in 2025, we are back to the attitudes of prior to World War II. We are back to wealth in the hands of a few, and the rest well it is the survival of the fittest. The current system needs an overhaul, however there are more subtle ways of doing things besides having a bulldozer attitude. Society is not cancer, you do not need to destroy it in order to rebuild it.
However I would ike to thank President Trump. You woke up the Canadian pride and unity that I have not seen in my lifetime. The President has even got the sovernists (from Alberta and Quebec) supporting Canadian unity. "Canada is not for Sale" has actually been trending online. We might have more supporters that we know. Who knows, maybe history will look back in favor of Canada in its fight for survival in these these turbulent times. At the very least, the Canadian unity is one of the good things came out of these shenanigans.

Canada – Survivor Mode
Canadians have lots of fight in them. We might have some divisions among us, French and English, Liberal and Conservatives, Provincial and Federal, but when our existence is threatened by our former closest ally, we band together and fight for our survival. This economic and psychological warfare was not something I would of expected, not especially from the Americans. Maybe its time to make new friends with Asian countries and Europe. When China appears to be more humaine that the USA, you know there is something wrong with that picture. This is exactly the opening China is looking for to become the Superpower it has been longing for. We have survived a similar attempt from the USA in the past and I believe we will pull through it somehow, someway. We are survivors and hoping some of our other friends will step up and join us to push back against the Americans.
I believe we are entering into the Dark Ages of America, especially since the deployable, classless spectacle in the Oval Office from last week. The United States will never recover from the damage Trump will inflict not only to US allies, but to the American citizen. If the first month is any indication, no one will want to live in North America and be associated to an American. Maybe we will all move to Mexico and enjoy warm winters….
In conclusion, we can complain all we want, but we can not control the decisions that are made at that level of government. I suggest we all concentrate on what we can control like taking care of each other and try to live our lives as normal as possible. The American spectacle, which it is a real WWE circus, is like a TV reality show. Maybe that is the goal to live in A Truman Show type of environment. It is making lots of noise, attempting to be present every minute of every day. I guess the goal is for people to tune out or for people not to pay attention to what is really happening, but who am I to point that out. I just a simple middle class guy .....
Whatever you watch or do, keep on smiling. At least there are no tariffs on smiles….not yet anyways.
